We consider keeping your personal information secure and private an important part of our job. Zecco.com, Zecco Trading, our trading platform partner Nexa Technologies, and our clearing firm Penson Worldwide all work together to insure the integrity of your information. We are also continually improving our security policies and processes to stay ahead of emerging technology threats.
How We Protect You
Authentication
We have two layers of password sign-ons to protect your trading account from unauthorized transactions. We also prompt you to create usernames and passwords that are hard to guess. Repeated unsuccessful attempts to log-in prompt us to reset your password, making “brute-force” cracking attempts fruitless. If this happens to you by accident, just follow the instructions for the “
Forgot your password?” on the login page.
Website Security
Our security measures are put in place to protect you and your personal information from loss and/or abuse. We use 128-bit Secure Socket Layer encryption, the strongest generally available web security. We also use encrypted cookies to shield your information as it is passed between your browser and our servers. State-of-the art firewall and perimeter communication security initiatives help prevent unauthorized disclosure at every level of our software architecture..
Inactive Logoff
To protect your account from unauthorized access while you are away from your computer, our system will automatically log you off after a period of inactivity. When leaving your computer unattended you should always lock your operating system.
Activity Monitoring
Our experienced staff constantly monitors transactions for unusual or inconsistent behavior that might be indicative of fraudulent activity. Additionally, close oversight, access control, and automated monitoring help to insure that our staff is on alert to any breaches of our information security and suspicious activity.
Policies and Procedures
We feel that protecting your information is of utmost importance and that your privacy is paramount. But we also want to provide you with the best products and services we can so that you can accomplish your investing goals. Zecco Trading acts as an introducing broker to its clearing firm, Penson Worldwide, which processes the transactions and acts as the account custodian. Employees and third-party service providers are only given access to the limited information that they need to perform the given service or task. Additionally, our service providers are contractually obligated to keep the information confidential.
How You Can Protect Yourself
Zecco.com, Zecco Trading, our trading platform partner Nexa Technologies, and our clearing firm Penson Worldwide operate with the idea that your personal information is just that, personal. While we do our part to keep your information confidential here are some ways we highly recommend to protect your identity from being stolen and your account from being compromised.
Monitor Your Account
Monitor your account and statements regularly and often to verify all transaction activity. Also make sure to check your emails from Zecco.com and Zecco Trading, most significant activities that you will perform on Zecco.com and Zecco Trading will generate an email alert to you to confirm the action. Please read these. If you get a confirmation for something you didn’t do, contact us immediately and change your password. Report any suspicious activity to us immediately by calling us at (877) 700-7862 or my emailing
fraud@zeccotrading.com.
Protect Your Username and Password
We will not request your login and password information from you by any means, including email and phone. Additionally, we will not confirm your password with anyone (even yourself). If you forget your password you can reset your password online by following the “
Forgot your password?” instructions on the login page. When creating a password for your account stay away from common words that you associate with. An example could be a partner’s or child’s name, pets, or names of streets you’ve lived on. Also stay away from passwords that would be obvious, such as the word “password”, numbers in sequential order, your address, etc. We strongly encourage you to use letters, numbers and special characters in your password. Sound hard? Try this. Take “ZeccoShare” but replace the vowels with numbers and stick in a special character. You’d have “Z3cc0sh4r3!”.
Make sure to change your password frequently and never give out your username and password to anyone. Avoid writing this information down and if at all possible commit the information to your memory. For additional security, turn off the automatic sign-in functionality on your website. This protects you from someone else using your computer to access your account and it helps you remember your password as well. And lastly, log off of Zecco.com when you are not using it.
Do not access websites that require a login and password from a public computer such as a library computer or an internet café. Many times these computers can be infected with keystroke logging programs. The program will keep track of all the keystroke actions you make and then send that data to the hacker.
Keep your computer safe
Use Anti-Virus Software on your computer and make sure that the virus definitions are updated regularly. Also, keep your browser software updated. Many times the new updates fix previous holes in the browser that a hacker could have used to access your information.
Be careful opening emails. Spam emails can have a malicious intent behind them. When you click on a link in the email it could actually download a keystroke-logging program onto your computer. The program will keep track of all the keystroke actions you make and then send that data to the hacker. Also, don’t open attachments from individuals that you don’t know. The phrase your parents told you “don’t take candy from strangers” applies to emails as well! If you get an email from a stranger delete it immediately. Use a spam filter on your email as it will reduce the potential of getting viruses and malicious content on your computer.
Beware of phishing. Phishing is a scheme intended to obtain personal information such as your user name and password. In phishing, hackers create a website that looks exactly like an authentic site, with the same or very similar colors, logo and text. This fake site prompts you to enter your personal information, which the hackers who created the site will use to access your accounts.
To help protect yourself, make sure you are at our legitimate site when logging in (www.zecco.com). You can do so by looking at the navigation bar on your browser but keep in mind fake versions may change the address slightly to make you think, at first glance, that you are at our site. Keep in mind that email is usually the method used to send you to a fake website.
You might receive a phishing email that appears to be coming from Zecco.com or Zecco Trading. If you receive an email or email request that looks suspicious please do not click on any of the links but call us at (877) 700-7862 or send the email to phishing@zeccotrading.com with your concern.
Use online statements
Personal information arrives in the mail almost every day. This can be a prime opportunity for someone to steal your information. By using online statements you limit the risk of having your personal information stolen as well as keeping your Zecco Trading account secure.
See our Terms of Service for additional security guidelines.
