so with the new commissions charge and new features that we now are paying for.. are we going to get dividend reinvestment?? anyone have any idea? that would be a nice feature that im sure others would enjoy

I don't know about that. Fractional shares would be nice as well.

I have a related question: if we own a dividend paying stock are we sent a check in the mail or are the dividends deposited directly into our Zecco account? Also, if they are deposited into our account how long does it take and are we notified (like by email or something) that they were deposited?

Dividends are deposited directly into your account.  I noticed it on the paperwork I received in the mail.  I was also able to verify the deposit by logging into my account records.

yeah I noticed that too, they are deposited directly into your account.  What I am curious about though, does anyone have McDonalds?  They were supposed to pay out their div.on Dec 3 but I haven't received mine even though I was in before the ex-divi. date?  Has anyone else experienced this or has everyone else in MCD already received theirs?

DRIPS are a mixed bag.

advantages:
(1) free stock purchase
(2) (very) moderate dollar cost averaging affect

disadvantages:
(1) cost basis calculation is a headache (concerns taxable accounts only)
(2) the repurchase price may not be the best as everyone with a drip buys at the same time

With zero commission trades, even only 10 per month, I wouldn't bother with a DRIP even if it were offered.

@Willywob: It seems to vary, it took 5-7 days for one company, and almost 2 weeks for a different company. I don't have any MCD though.

Research the stock on http://finance.yahoo.com and look into the "Historical Prices".... filter the search by dividends, and it will give you the past history of dividends that had been paid.  Additionally, the company profile usually will list the dividend yield too.

I'd like a response to the same question.  I own shares of stocks that have paid monthly dividends, but I don't see it showing up anywhere on Zecco.  And I have received no check from anyone.  How are dividends handled?
