Thanks for the link unikiller86. I can't say I'm surprised either after the AXP warning.

This makes sense somewhat, but it really sucks. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting since October for the " V " to debut. This is a really great company, and will only grow faster each year. Plastic is where its at. They own their own processing network ( the largest in the world I think ), which alone is worth a nice slice of green. I think it will take off like a rocket and bring the market up with it, so in that sense it would be a bad thing to put it off. At least I can save more money for the IPO if they do put it off. I dont think they will wait past May, the article on Reuters said negitive consequences would arrive at that point. Hopefully it will be soon !

Visa said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing it will offer 406 million shares at $37 to $42 per share. There will be an option for underwriters to buy an extra 40.6 million shares to cover any excess demand.

Visa said it intends to pay shareholders an annual dividend of 42 cents a share.>>

Alot of hype around this stock. I think that is will have pretty good growth the first few days/ weeks. The only question, will we has small investors be able to get in at a price to make it worth while?

I read today that the price range well be between $37 and $42.  I am going to take a wait and see approach.  IPOs have struggled lately (think Netsuite and Blackstone).  Remember when Blackstone came out last year, it was around $40, and now it is down to $15.  If you don't have an AG stock in your portfolio, I would also consider the Intrepid Potash IPO.  If you google "Intrepid Potash IPO" you will see that some believe it to be the most promising IPO to come out in the last year or so.  I believe it will come out in March.  Potash, Nitrates, etc. are through the roof, and the AG sector looks good for all of 2008.  I bought AGU at $50 last month and today it closed at $74.  I will really consider Visa if it gets into the twenties.  My hope is that it goes down right away, and individual investors get scared and sell off what they purchased, and hopefully drive the price even lower.  We'll see.

I think theres way to much hype for it to go down. Atleast the first few days. If I can get in at a reasonable price I might, and I'd plan on selling it within probably the first 3 days. I would not go long term until it settles out.

Ofcourse we are only looking at other IPOs recently and mastercard. Alot of get lucky (or unlucky) plays into this now, especially with the way the market and economy is currently acting.

After listening to Cramer tonight, I am going to try and get as much as possible.  I guess I really didn't understand Visa like I thought I did.  If you got Master card on its IPO its up 310% today.  A lot of similarities.  Visa is the market leader for electronic transactions.  I presummed that they were a lender when really their business is processing electronic payments.

they don't lend, they only process payments. More people going to use credit cards in a economic down turn and more people gonna use credit cards in economic up turn -  win win situation
