I heard a talking head on TV say the recent rise in solar stocks was directly tied to the rise in oil. What do you guys think of this? If it is true do you think a drop in oil would equate to a drop in solar, or will solar keep rising? I have not done any solar yet (except SPWR which I no longer have) because they seem too speculative, too new, and do not seem nearly as solid as more established industries. Aside from financials is there any other criteria any of you would attach to a solar play, like supply capability (apparently this may be a problem for LDK) or sales opportunities? It seems like one technological breakthrough by any solar company could knock the others off the wall. For instance, does anyone know the company who created the solar film that is expected to replace the old fashioned solar panels? I would love to learn more about how to evaluate this fascinating industry.
