What about AMAT? I believe they will be making components for solar cells. They are an established company with good revenues and a dividend.

My pick is AMAT, but I also like FSLR.

Check out FSLR (First Solar's) balance sheet. AMAT looks pretty good as well.

FSLR has a PEG ratio of 1.88
AMAT has a current PEG ratio of 1.06

Since they both have good balance sheets and good cash-flow statements, this is a tough decision. I'd go with AMAT; it has a stronger cash-flow statement and even though its balane sheet isn't as conservative, I think it's the better bargain.

JASO has a great balance sheet; while it has net income, it's cash flow statement needs improvement. I'd say it was a buy but not one of my favorites. SOLF is in a similar situation; excellent balance sheet, not so good cash-flow statement. STP is in a similar boat despite three years of rising net incomes and a good balance sheet. CSIQ is in this same camp as well.

PBW (no decision, no financials)
LDK (too premature to warrant a financial analysis; BS needs some work)
CSUN - like the balance sheet; don't like the cash-flow statement trend
TSL - good balance sheet, also don't like the cash-flow statement

CY - financials approved
SPWR - the financials aren't promising; the two together are a buy; last three quarters this stock would have been a buy (but now is a sell since a lot of money is tied into receivables as of July 1, 2007)

i am currently invested in AKNS as it is the leading installler of solar panels in the usa. right now its at about 4.19 and it had a 52 week high of 6.45! ive done a lot of research onthis company over the past few months and this seems to be a really awesome choice right now. i suggest finding their recent conf. call and listening to it for yourself.

I enjoyed reading this post again - I just rediscovered some of these stocks, while looking for positions as I really think energy concerns will be big issue in the coming years.   Very interesting opportunities out there!
