Partial Order Fills..... i got 1 share...

    Reply Quote

I set a limit DAY order to buy 13 shares of SRS if it got to 110.25.....

I logged in after the market closed and i find that Zecco got me 1 share. O N E share, at 3:59, the last min the market was open. I did not have the AON option active.

Is it just me or is this kinda silly? Am i going to be charged for this? (it's like my 9'th trade this month i think, so i'll prob go over 10 this month) I've had partial fills in the past, and it wasn't a problem at all....but one share? I'll have to make over 4% to break even, and that's if I only end up being charged for the buy and not the sell...

Partial fills, while an annoyance, are part of the game.  You can specify AON, but if you do so you miss out on the opportunity to get a large partial fill as well as having your order represented in certain circumstances.

Remember that the process might be likened to a food chain.  While the 1 share partial sucks for you, many folks would be just as unhappy to get your 13 shares as a partial fill to their 500 share order.  What goes around comes around.

Too bad you can't specify a minimum amount, so it is worth the commission fee for you.

On my last few orders I noticed that the AON selection did not work. I clicked on it and the box was high lighted, but without the checkmark that usually shows up. It did not indicate AON on the order status page either. So far each execution has been for the full number of shares fortunately.

Anyone else notice the AON feature not working properly?

I have encountered that problem before.  A full computer restart (not just browser) cleared it up for me.  Seems rediculous I know.
