    Help me Invest

    Reply Quote
Hey everyone!  I need some help.  I don't have a whole lot of money to invest but I want to get started.  Where do you suggest I start.  I already to contribute to a 401k and IRA so beyond those to please help.  I make about 50,000/year so I don't have a lot of cash on hand to invest.  Should I invest in stocks at all or is there something else I should be looking at to make my money go further!  Thanks a bunch

    Dan

It all depends on your goals and life plans.
I am young so all my investing is in stocks right now and I have been playing LONG TERM, but I am looking to start trading as well as investing. I am young so I can afford to make mistakes and learn.

First thing you need to look at: Are you looking to be a...
Trader- short term holding of securities, more risk involved, but more chance of fast reward.
Investor- Long term holding of securities, usually safer, longer time for reward.

    Hi Dan,

Any time is a great time to start investing in stocks, but right now is really great because prices are low.

You can start with as little as $100.  Everybody suggests reading all these books, but if you know the basic stuff about buying and selling a SUPER AWESOME way to start is with Robert Lichello's AIM system.  He wrote the book in the 70's, but it's been updated over the years, and it STILL WORKS.

Real estate is also a really good investment right now.  My mum and I both just bought houses to live in for less than $50k.  Actually she's getting another one for about $14k next week.  Just needs some paint and a layer of laminate flooring.   It's easy to find cheap houses almost everywhere, and all you have to do is charge $50 less per month than the next guy to guarantee tenants if you want em.

Now I just gotta wait a year or two for Obama to fix the economic problems and reap the profits!
