Quarterly reports coming out soon and as is the custom apple will beat the street. In mere weeks the iphone will be out and watch out 100 dollar stock price barrier.

What a perfectly timed post! AAPL fell a few percent today, due to the news about their latest OS, Leopard shipping 4 months later than previously announced. This late ship date will have a signficant effect on number of Macs sold, as many people will want to wait for the new OS before jumping into a new Mac. If Apple would guarantee that all new machines purchased after June, say, would receive a free upgrade, I think it would go along way in boosting Mac sales.

While I think AAPL might have a few more points to slip, now is a pretty good time to buy. $100 easy by the end of the year, maybe even the summer!

I am negative on AAPL, I believe their stock is highly priced and just bought $90 puts for May to reflect that.....

Where there's a buyer there's a seller...I'm buying May 90.00 calls.  Earnings, IPhone...a lot of upside left here I think in the weeks to come.  Their P/E is still relatively in check, so I'm not sure how you could claim they are too expensive...they have a had a good run, but that doesn't mean it can't continue.  This is of course barring any cancellation or delay of the Iphone, in which case the stock would likely tumble to 75-80.  We may both be able to make money though.  It could easily fall below 90 here in the next week or so prior to earnings, but won't stay there for long.  When it tumbled in the Feb selloff it was back above 90 in a matter of days.  There is a lot of hype, but I think most people would argue that, for at least the time being, it is warranted.

Not sure what the premium was last week but May calls at 90 strike was probably a good move.  Despite delays with their OS and disapointments in iPhone, I see AAPL continuing to trend upward as sales surge from younger, non tech-savy consumers.  The iPhone will sell like hot cakes regardless of what the tech community says of it, just because AAPL has succeeded in developing a very mature and desirable brand.

No offense, but AAPL was just trading in the 100-110 range in extended hours after earnings blew away expectations (87cents/share vs 63cents/share).  I guess you won't be exercising those May 90 puts!  Congrats to you parkermcclain -- I hope you bought several contracts!

Although I agree that the company is hilariously overpriced most of the time, I would never go short or place any kind of bet that they go down, because the market acts so... happy... about Apple.

I did buy a very small amount of shares to see if I could catch some earnings report mania - the bet paid off, but I'm not holding them...
