A lot of people have asked me why on earth we picked pink as
our company color. Shouldn’t we have gone with green, the color of money? Or
blue or red, the old financial institution stand-bys? Absolutely not! After a
lot of soul searching, we decided those old-school colors couldn’t capture the
true Zecco spirit.
We picked pink because it’s different. And that’s what Zecco
is - different. We have a different vision, a different approach, a different
innovative platform. We’re about transparency, not hidden fees. We’re about
empowering investors with new sources of information, not the same old stuff everyone
else offers. And through Zecco Trading, we’re about enabling investors to build
a diversified stock portfolio without having commissions eat away at their
returns.
Plus, the color pink is often associated with springtime and
optimism; and those of us that work at Zecco have an optimistic view of our growing
company. We truly believe that Zecco will change the face of the online
investing world and we’re working around the clock to make that vision a
reality. No, we aren’t your average, boring, stuffy financial institution - if
you want that, you’ll have to go to Merrill or Smith Barney - and our company
color isn’t boring either. So if you ask me, pink is the new blue. And Zecco is
the new generation of online investing. Go pink!
Speaking of colors, I’m seeing orange these days. I went
back to the Netherlands,
where I was born, for a bunch of meetings with our shareholders and it just so
happened my trip coincided with Queen’s Day. I’m guessing most of you have never
heard of Queen’s Day, but in the Netherlands it’s a huge national
holiday. It’s the celebration of the Queen’s birthday (to be precise, the
Birthday of our previous Queen, the mother of the present Queen, simply because
the weather is normally better around her birthday than the current Queen’s
birthday).
It is recognized as a day of togetherness and national unity. Everyone
crowds the streets for a day of major partying dressed in, you got it, orange. Why
orange? The Dutch Royal family is called the House of Orange-Nassau, so we all
break out our best tangerine tees in honor of our Queen. So "Vrolijke Koninginnedag" (Happy Queen's Day)
everyone! Have a great week!
