Web 2.0, investing 2.0, how about Lunch 2.0? Last week our Burlingame office flung open its doors (and its kitchen) to the public and hosted our very first Lunch 2.0 -- a Silicon Valley phenomenon in which companies invite the community to come scope out their operations. It’s kind of like a coming out party for Valley start-ups. We get to show off our product and our visitors get a free lunch. There’s also a whole recruiting aspect to the lunches since they are attended by engineers and local talent looking for the right fit.
Over 100 people attended the event. We set a tent up outside, served hotdogs from Berkeley-based Top Dog and offered a little beer to wash them down with. We gave out some schwag—Zecco t-shirts, tote bags and squeeze balls—and held a raffle. Fabian Tan (pictured below) won and received a Zecco Trading account funded with $500 to get him started on his free trading* career.
After lunch we walked the crowd through our offices where we had projectors set up, displaying the latest and greatest from Zecco. We also signed up 18 ZeccoShare members on the spot. But the best part about the event? People had a great time! Check out this attendees pictures posted on Flickr. So all in all it was a big success! And like I’ve always said, it proves that there is such thing as a free lunch!
