This past week has been as crazy as they come. Tuesday
morning I woke up at 4:30a.m. and caught a flight down to Ontario, California
to check in with Zecco
Trading, our broker dealer. After back-to-back meetings I hightailed it
back to the airport, got home around 8p.m. grabbed some clothes and headed back
to SFO for an 11p.m. redeye to New
York. I spent one day there and returned Wednesday
night just in time to make it to the
altar. On Thursday morning I got married! I finally wed Isabelle, my long-term
girlfriend. It was a short, intimate ceremony soon to be followed by a big
blowout party in Holland,
the country of my birth.
I would have been very cranky with all this travelling and
dreadful lack of sleep had it not been for the airline I flew - Virgin America.
I just love this company. The basics are the same as all other airlines—a plane
is a plane, speed is speed, altitude is altitude. But beyond that, everything
about Virgin America is different. The purple mood lighting. The hip music. The
quirky safety video. The comprehensive entertainment system. The red carpet
leading up to slick check-in kiosks. Every single customer in every single seat
is treated first class on Virgin America, despite the fact that their fares are
among the lowest in the industry. I happened to be flying on Earth Day and they
gave every customer a very cool green reusable bag with “Plastic Bag Rehab”
scrawled on the side. It’s these little touches - these details - that make a company special.
Taking a page out of Virgin America’s book, when you call
Zecco customer service you don’t get the boring old stuffy hold music you’re
expecting. You’ll hear a cool house mix put together by our own Michiel
De Boer.
Another detail we’re working on to make the investing
experience above and beyond on Zecco.com is our new kicking Quotes
and Research pages (Beta). We’ve completely revamp them, making them
more comprehensive and user friendly. And in addition to all the stuff you’d
expect to see there, we’ve added a completely unique, awesome “detail”: Our community
sentiment indicators.
- Bullish/Bearish
indicator: Indicates whether or not Zecco Trading customers are net buyers
or sellers of the security.
- Most
held/Least held: Indicates if the security is among the most or least held
by Zecco Trading customers.
- Best
performing/Worst performing: Indicates whether holders of a particular
stock are performing better or worse on average. In the example below,
you’ll notice people who hold Apple are on average among the top overall
performers in the community.
So as I traverse the country enjoying the plush leather
seats, low fares and 25 movie choices Virgin America offers every single one of
their customers, I’ll continue to expand upon what Zecco can do to stand out in
our industry. It’s all the same—a stock is a stock, an option is an option. But
it’s the details—the rockin’ content from Zecco community members, the transparency
of ZeccoShare, the community sentiment indicators, the fast executions and free
stock trades at Zecco Trading*--that make the difference.
With Kind Regards,
