We at Zecco are very happy to announce our participation and sponsorship in the O'Reilly Media
Money:Tech conference in New York, Feb 6-7. Money:Tech is about how “Web 2.0” innovations are radically changing the world of investing, both for the larger institutions and for the everyday investor. As Paul Kedrosky mentioned in his blog
Infectious Greed,
The conference is, of course, all about the confluence of Wall Street and Web 2.0. And what does that mean? Well, new ways of Web-2.0-style collaborating are changing money and investing, with the zero-sum game of Wall Street changing in the process. At the same time market mashups with new sources of web-based data - auctions! real estate! pricing! weather! - are transforming the never-ending hunt for a money-making edge.
At Money:Tech, we’ll be participating in a panel on
Collective Money Management alongside Ken Kam (
Marketocracy), Steven A. Carpenter (
Cake Financial), Weiting Liu (
socialpicks.com), and Richard 'Rikki' Tahta (
Covestor). Our discussion will focus on how people share ideas to become better investors, something we’ve believed for a long time. And of course we’ll show off how powerful ZeccoShare has become with everyone sharing their portfolios and trades. Here's the panel description:
"The stock market has long been seen as the antithesis of sharing. There is only so much money to be made, so why would you tell anyone else your good ideas? It is, to that way of thinking, a zero-sum game.
How then, do we explain the rise of a host of new web-based services predicated on sharing information about trades and stocks? Are they wrong? Is the market? We'll talk about it with representatives from some of the hottest social stock-picking sites out there, and we'll try to figure what, if anything, these is for professional investors to learn about the future."
So if you're in the New York City area 2/6 and 2/7 and would like to hang out with some Zeccoians outside the conference, shoot us a note and we'd love to see you!
