One of the great things
about ZeccoShare is that it allows users to find like-minded investors and
connect with them. Many investors have already made connections with
people they’ve talked to on the forums and in our ZeccoShare groups. Now with
performance, we’re taking that idea a step further, giving everyone the tools
to find people who are truly outperforming the market, and the community.
Performance Ranking
Our performance
calculations, powered by GainsKeeper [add link], allow us to rank our community
members and highlight top performers. Each user’s profile (for people sharing
their investment data) now includes an Overall Performance metric that
indicates their return since inception, annualized after 12 months. On the ZeccoShare Dashboard,
you can see the top 10 performers from the entire ZeccoShare community. On the ZeccoShare Member
Search page, top performers are filtered by your search criteria, so you
can get additional, more relevant snapshots. With a few clicks you can now find
the top performers:
- In your state (tr4sh80
is the top performer in California)
- With a similar investment discipline (guanfr
is the top performer among Buy an Hold investors)
- Holding stocks you are interested in (texasmotion is the top performer holding AAPL)
These search results are as
of November 19. Do you want to see where you stand? Start sharing now,
and you’ll see right away!
Performance Medals
Many ZeccoShare users
(half of the community, actually), will have performance medals to indicate how
they stack up against the rest of the community. The current bands are: Top 5%,
Top 20%, and Top 50%. How this works is pretty straight-forward: if a given user’s
overall portfolio performance is in the top 5% of all users (rank-ordered),
they’ll get a Top 5% medal. It’s a status symbol that users can for
instance use in the forums and group discussions – as if the bonus of a
well-performing portfolio isn’t enough!
Performance Mini-Cards
The Portfolio Holdings
element on a user’s profile page, as you’ve already noticed, now includes
symbol-specific performance metrics, as calculated by GainsKeeper. What’s more,
there’s a button next to that metric that brings up a comparison chart. It
shows 3 data points: the top performer for that symbol, the current user’s
performance for that symbol, and the median performance for all ZeccoShare
members who hold that stock. We love this feature, since it makes it really
easy to see how you stack up against the rest of the community, and who’s doing
really well in a certain position. Again – it’s all about being able to find
and connect with other investors!

We hope you’re as excited
as we are about the new performance features. We’d love to get feedback
about it, so let us know in the ZeccoShare Feedback forum.
