An excellent 4th Quarter boosted Dell Inc. up 2.08 at close today. Not really sure why this was good news. Goes to show the lemming like quality of the market sometimes. Dell is a sound company, so why weren't people buying before today? Well, all of a sudden Dell releases some numbers that say they were profitable for the last quarter and they're worth buying.
Sure, there's a point to it. If the company is profitable now, you buy and hope that they will continue to be profitable in the future. At some point, you sell for a profit. It's worked for centuries, so why not now. Well, frankly, it still does.
Dell today just happens to be one of the extreme cases where the company was exactly the same yesterday as it was today. The only difference is the perception of the people buying the shares.
