Transports to Collapse Soon?

Here’s what the Dow Jones Transportation average has been doing over the past 10 months...

Each of the previous three indices (see newsletter), while showing potential intermediate trend reversals, is showing a rising long-term trend. The DJTA, however, having now put in a 3rd lower peak (the first two were in May and July, respectively) is potentially showing a declining long-term trend. We’re calling this only a potentiality for now because a declining trend needs to make lower lows, as well as lower highs. Accordingly, the DJTA needs to make a move below support at 4140, in order to confirm the long-term downtrend.

Long-term trend classification aside, the index is showing a number of short-term sell signals currently. RSI has made a negative centerline crossover, MACD is showing a confirmed negative divergence, price has broken the rising channel seen on the intermediate trend, and CMF is showing declining buying pressure.

All these signs point to imminent bearishness on the Transports.
