Zeccoians,
I have recently logged in and noticed that the option to set your community/ screen name. This is a new privacy option Zecco has set up for us users. Your community name is your name that will show on the threads and forums. We now have the option to have a log in name (user ID) and a different community name for security issues. Of course, if you still want to have your user name (what you log in with) the same as your community name you have that option. Zecco has been listening to our wants and desires and this is just one update to the site they are implementing.
I will explain for us how to change/ set you community name. First log into your ZeccoShare account using your user ID. Next navigate to your user profile. Once there on the left hand side of the page there is an option titled “Settings”, click on this and then it opens more options under it and click on the title “Personal Profile.” This brings up your profile information and at the top is your community screen name option, once set it cannot be change, so pick wisely. Also, you will want to make sure to click the “available” button next to it to make sure your community name has not been chosen. Once picked, scroll down the page and click “Save Changes.” You will now have saved your name community screen name.
Below is an e-mail received from Community Director Michiel de Boer describing the privacy improvements.
Zecco is implementing important improvements to the privacy and security of the fast-growing Free Trading Community. Later this week we will be sending out another email asking you to pick a (new) Community Screen Name, which will be distinct from your current Zecco User Name.
For existing Zecco members this means the following:
- You will all keep your existing User Name for signing in to Zecco.
- Your User Name is for private use, and as soon as you choose your public Screen Name it will no longer be displayed in the community.
- In case you have already picked a Screen Name in the past, it will be erased later this week.
- From that moment onwards, you are all advised to pick a (new) Screen Name, which may be the same as your User Name, or may be different (a good Screen Name should not include any personal information, e.g. name, phone number, birthday).
- Your Screen Name is displayed for all your activities throughout the community (profile, forum posts, recent trades, etc.).
- Both your User Name and Screen Name cannot be changed after selection.
Once you receive the next email, please follow the instructions and pick a Screen Name right away, as to minimize the chances your desired Screen Name has already been taken by another community member.
We’ve always taken your privacy and security very seriously at Zecco, and believe that this enhancement makes it even easier for users to get involved with the community. With the right Screen Name you can freely share your holdings, trades, opinions, and more without ever having to worry about your identity.
