Yahoo has recently been getting harassed by Microsoft to be bought out. Steve Ballmer of Microsoft has been leading on the idea that if Yahoo does not accept an offer from Microsoft to be bought, Microsoft together with News Corp will start a stock holder war and eventually change the board of directors. Although, recent news is that Yahoo will team up with Google on advertising. The best news to me though, is that Yahoo and AOL (Time Warner) are now in talks of combining internet operations – my preference. I do use both Yahoo and Microsoft, both are on my stock watch list, and most analysts say that the Microsoft-Yahoo deal would be better than an AOL-Yahoo deal. I still favor the AOL-Yahoo, and if I were a stock holder I would want the AOL-Yahoo deal to go through with even more passion. The Microsoft bid was not a bad thing, Yahoo has now realized they are at risk and need to do something. The bid has forced Yahoo to make new deals; deals I feel should have been in the talks months ago. Ultimately if the Google Advertising and AOL-Yahoo deal go through, the Yahoo shareholders will be very happy.
