Born on the 4th of July!

Hello. We are Zecco. We were born today, on the 4th of July, to be independent.  For now, we want to give you a taste of how we are building a great new online financial community. A community:

  • Where you will have access to data, news, ideas, opinions and tools.
  • Were you can gain insight into the dynamics of today’s financial markets.
  • Where you can contribute your thoughts and ideas.

And soon, you’ll have the ability to do trading as well: trades in stocks, options, bonds, and mutual funds. All in one place!

As you can see, we are not quite there yet. But we simply couldn’t wait; we just had to get started with this Beta version. This version, of course, is just the beginning; a basic framework with only limited functionality. For now. But it is being worked with relentless energy so that it will, indeed, grow into something fundamentally different from what is currently out there.

Thus you can expect new things to be added continuously. New data. Better tools. And, of course, a growing number of interesting blog and forum posts. So you’ll get more than the plain facts. Or a specialist to talk at you. You’ll receive the opinions of people just like you. And you can even share your own thoughts. By signing up as myZecco member  and contributing your thoughts and ideas. Big or small. You are more than welcome.

So why are we doing this?

We’re doing it because we are entrepreneurs who believe the online financial portal and trading industry is ready for a serious change. Because we’ve worked in this industry for many years and we know it can be approached from many different angles. And because we not only want to dream about this but also make it happen. Together with you.

For now, it seems that the blogs and boards are kind of low-volume and the site's posting clarity, control, ease, and speed is sluggish compared to the posting interface Facebook has.

Can't beat free trades, though.

I am just joining after having used TD Ameritrade since the beginning of the year. I should have learned through the FOREX(?) tool first, or better yet, the 15 or so trades I have made for a modest $50 profit net could have been free :( But you live and learn.

One of the things that confused me when I looked at joining in February was the $2500 initial balance requirement. Did I read that wrong? I only joined today because it said $0 balance required. This is how I funded the TD account. I am glad you are making that advertisment bigger and more clear. Perhaps I am confusing this with the margin account requirements(?) not sure.

Anyway, it's good to be a member now. One feature that I hope is avaiable on Zecco is the ability to always see your avaialbe trading funds balance so you don't have to keep navigating back and forth between the stock chart or quote and the balance to figure out how many shares you can afford.

Zecco is getting on my nerves!  Twice, my account has been suspended due to glitch errors!  I have lost money because I could not trade for a whole week!  Penson should have their azz kicked!  I am giving them one more chance to get their heads out of their azz before I move my account somewhere else!  I am tired of waking up to find out I  can't trade for the day because someone has their head up in their azzhole!

If banks can make money off free checking accounts, why can't an online broker do the same? I have had my account for about 2 months. They might not have all the great trading tools or the best interface but it really is free. I hope to keep building my account and maybe one day I too can become one of those 25,000 dollar account daytraders. I love this broker! Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

"Ditto" the positive comments above!!  I've been investing in equities for 22 years and finally in Zecco for the first time have found a broker which puts THE CUSTOMER'S INTEREST first!!! Have had a Zecco account for four months, made at least 50 trades with excellent execution and couldn't be happier with this broker.

Keep up the great work, Zecco!

Dear Zecco,
I'm sorry to differ but you still have not answered my questions? Zecco is still claiming to be “The Free Trading Community”. How can you explain when I signed up with that in mind and now, that is starting 1/08, I will no longer have FREE TRADES? This new deal to Zecco's old investors is very disingenuous for the mere FACT I will no longer have any FREE TRADES from “The Free Trading Community” because I am not at the $2500 level yet. I was hoping to be sooner than later but with the new deal it will be a whole lot longer if at all.
Why is Zecco making the least of the investors, under $2500 accounts, pay for what the more experienced and well funded investors, over $2500 accounts can afford to purchase separate if they so choose? A company that penalizes the small or new investor for the advancement to attract the big boys may cost Zecco a whole lot more than they bargained for, but time will tell.
Once again I would like my direct questions answered:
1.How can you explain when I signed up with that in mind and now, that is starting 1/08, I will no longer have FREE TRADES?
2. Why is Zecco making the least of the investors, under $2500 accounts, pay for what the more experienced and well funded investors, over $2500 accounts can afford to purchase separate if they so choose?
3. How is rewarding someone with 2500 dollar balance with 10 free trades help someone with less than 2500 dollar balance build their portfolio without free trades??

Someone who can explain the above question point to point listed out 1-4 without repeating the generic new deal explanation would much be appreciated.

Thanks, DaddyO out

I have found this site to be easy to use except for one thing.  I keep getting blocked by IE6 because your Security Certificate is out of date.  Please correct this so I can plunk my $2500 down.  Won't risk it without the Security Certificate.

As a result of the reduction to 10 trades a month I may be drawing down my account to move to B of A which continues to offer 30 free trades a month to those who have a combined balance of $25000.

I'm with brpierce.  I signed up for the 40 free trades.  Now that that is gone, other firms offer better customer service and trading platforms and still offer free trades.  They claim to be investing in these areas, but it will take time and thus far their track record is not real great. I've had a lot of issues.  If they don't reinstate the 40 trades or grandfather those who signed up prior to Oct 1st, I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.
